Afrikan Image Productions Ltd. was registered in Tanzania in 2003 as an Independent Production House and consulting firm. Afrikan Image has experience and formal education in both audio/visual as well as print media. Its background in Audio and Radio consists of the production of jingles and programmes for public awareness campaigns, commercial advertising, dubbing and voice-overs from English into Kiswahili, music jingle composition and voice over talent for radio spots/posts. TV and film production include: short films, educational videos, documentaries, television dramas and TV commercials. Other areas of media production include: graphic design, art, print media, English writing, screenwriting, editing, and translation between English and Kiswahili for print and visual media both internationally and within Tanzania.
In order to best develop educational communication materials, Afrikan Image Productions Ltd. works with clients in developing strategies that can be implemented and catered to the specific needs of the target audience. For communication strategies and dissemination of public awareness, our educational experts are conversant in developing and designing effective training materials that our clients use as educational tools for a variety of audiences ranging from children and other targeted groups to campaigns that are meant for the general population’s consumption. These tools range from the development of training packages and manuals for workshops throughout Tanzania to audio-visual tools such as videos and films, as well as radio programmes and jingles to the design of print media, such as messages for newspapers, news letters and magazines, books, brochures, posters, billboards, etc.
In order to gauge the effectiveness of these communication tools, Afrikan Image offers services for clients who are interested in testing their products. For this, our team goes out into the field and conducts baseline surveys in specified areas or for targeted groups. This information is then used to provide feedback for our clients after conducting monitoring and evaluation so that they may fine-tune their materials in order to have the greatest impact in ongoing and future campaigns.
Presentation standards are of an international standard both in terms of creative approach and technical quality. Afrikan Image has experience in working with both the private and public sector in Tanzania in producing projects for public consumption. They offer a complete studio for both video and sound production, sound and video editing suites, DVcam cameras, Sound and lighting kits, tripods and accessories for in-house use as well as for field work.
The team at Afrikan Image Productions Ltd. has received formal training in Tanzania and the US in the area of education, mass communications, graphic design, English writing and media production coupled with professional hands-on experience. Previous to forming Afrikan Image Production Ltd., Carrie Matiku, one of the directors, was a producer and creative director for Dar es Salaam Television (DTV) and a weekly columnist for The Express. Amos Matiku was employed in the ICT development and manufacturing industry in the US and was an instructor at Montana State University.
Our collective team of professionals include individuals professionally trained/educated in Europe, the US and Tanzania in a wide variety of genres within the field of education, production and marketing. Some of these skills include formal education and experience in the following areas: film production, photography, script writing, sound and computer technology, professional camera work, lighting, digital editing using the latest computer software for PC and Mac, graphic design, cartooning, animation, music, comprehensive production work as well as a history of consultation, marketing, education and corporate upper-level management.
Afrikan Image Productions Ltd. is proud to belong to the Tanzania Independent Producers Association (TAIPA) that was formed in accordance to the needs of the Tanzanian Government to have an organization of professional producers whose goal was to work to promote the film and television industries in this country. Membership in TAIPA is limited to those who meet the qualifications of professionalism, talent, and integrity. In addition to affiliation in regards to production, Carrie Matiku is also one of the founding members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Tanzania, AMCHAM in Tanzania, which was created to support Tanzanian and American Companies in developing effective business practices that include strategies for business growth and networking.
